Situated on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula, Toorak College is a leading school that educates girls and boys from Early Learning to Year 5. From Year 5 onwards, the school has a girls’ only educational approach. It also offers a range of flexible boarding options.
The relationship between Programmed and Toorak College began over 15 years ago. For most of this time, the College has engaged us for a variety of painting and maintenance projects. More recently, the College engaged Programmed to build a Wellness Garden, a landscaping initiative that would turn an under-uitilised area outside the boarding house into an engaging outdoor space.
Programmed was involved in the project from concept to completion. We also managed all the trades and specialist suppliers needed to realise the site’s transformation and its delivery within the very tight school holiday window.
Project Solution and Outcome
Toorak College needed to have confidence that the Wellness Garden project would be delivered to the outlined specifications, on time and within budget.
Programmed made certain we delivered.
Putting our more than 15 years’ experience in commercial grounds and landscaping to work, along with our knowledge of the specific needs for gardens within an educational space and, importantly, our understanding of Toorak College’s expectations cultivated over our long-term association with them, we provided Toorak College with a Wellness Garden incorporating plants selected for their colour, texture and scent, as well as a layout designed with students in mind. All in time to welcome students when they returned.
The Wellness Garden is now a beautiful outdoor space where both boarding and day students can enjoy the landscape together. The idea behind this project was to create a bridge and connection between the boarding house and day students. With this new transformation, the space does exactly this and serves as a study or relaxation area with dining facilities for communal gatherings and interaction.
“Completing works in the holiday period is vital for a school and Programmed understands that very well.” – Anthony Steer, Director of Business, Toorak College
