PPS sees Master Painter success!

Every year, Programmed Property Services (PPS) submits noteworthy projects to the Master Painter Awards for Excellence in each state across Australia, and so far this year have won three top honours in Victoria and South Australia.

Taking home the grand prize in the Industrial Coatings category for Victoria was the repaint of the steelwork at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. As one of Australia’s largest stadiums with a seating capacity of 56,000 people, Programmed was invited to tender for this project and was awarded the job to repaint the entire steelwork of the T7 trusses.

Not only did the trusses require a full restoration back to their original colour, a light green that had faded over the years, these steel structures also needed a protective coating. Due to the stadium’s proximity to the Docklands waterfront, this steelwork is constantly exposed to highly corrosive salt air. Our painting team needed to provide a durable weatherproof solution to treat the stadium’s rusty assets and protect them for the future.

The PPS VIC team was also awarded a high distinction in the Heritage Restoration category for repainting the cast-iron fencing, gates and poles surrounding Bendigo’s Rosalind Park. Located in the heart of Bendigo and with a rich history dating back to the 1800s, Rosalind Park was added to the Victorian Heritage Register for its archaeological, aesthetic, botanical and architectural significance to the State of Victoria. Over the last twenty years, when it was last repainted, the green and gold finishing of this fence had weathered, necessitating a renewal of its patina and colour.

For this, the City of Greater Bendigo approached the local PPS branch who worked with them to implement a robust long-lasting solution able to restore the cast iron fencing’s initial charm, as well as preserve its condition for many years to come.

Our Master Painters

The South Australia team have also seen success, winning the main Commercial Repaint category for a massive external repaint at The University of South Australia. The university’s West Campus was in the midst of a significant external repaint to modernise the appearance of the facilities when they contracted Programmed to undertake the second stage of this repaint – the canopy structures and sails straddling the entire campus.

These stretch at roof level over pedestrian spaces between the Catherine Helen Spence, Barbara Hanrahan, Rowland Rees and Sir George Kingston buildings, as well over as the internal courtyard of the Way Lee building; the surrounding walls, doors and windows of which also required repainting.

Despite facing several access challenges, Programmed effectively coordinated with the university, Adelaide City Council and the Adelaide Metro Bus Service to minimise disruption to day to day business, activities and schedules both on campus and in the broader University surrounds.

A huge shout out to the teams in both SA and VIC. These awards recognise their exemplary standards, professional conduct, and superior quality of work that is now on display for all to see.
