Davina's story

At Programmed, we support a diverse range of clients. Davina is one of the many inspiring young people we support, and at just 15, she has already set herself a range of short and long-term goals to help her achieve what she wants to in life.

After seeing a careers poster at school, Davina decided she would like to explore a career as a Mechanic, so has set her sights on a mechanical apprenticeship. With the option to choose school electives next year, she plans to enrol into an introductory Mechanical course which will give her a head start towards attaining an apprenticeship

Programmed were initially engaged to assist with nutritional and fitness-based goals, and with the guidance of her support worker, Davina has significantly improved in this area. She now has a good understanding of the different food groups, their nutritional value and what a balanced diet looks like. Where Davina would have previously opted for easy to make meals, that were not always healthy, she now takes pride in preparing nutritious meals for the whole family.

Over the years, Davina’s support has evolved as her needs and interests have changed. Her support worker now acts as more of a mentor, helping Davina to gain useful life skills. Already doing well at school with English and literacy, Davina has turned her attention to maths. Real-life math scenarios have been incorporated into her daily routine, and she often heads to the shops to put her learnings into practice. Davina’s confidence continues to grow each day, and her maths skills are improving dramatically.

We look forward to continuing Davina’s journey with her and helping her work towards her goals.
