A Day in the Life at Alstom: A Journey of Partnership and Pride

Aug 22, 2024

At Programmed, the relationships we build with our clients are central to our success. Our partnership with Alstom is a shining example. Recently, Neil Delaney and Sunny Haigh visited the Alstom facility, joining Sarel Naude, Liandi Fourie, and Sean McGrath for a comprehensive tour. The visit provided valuable insight into our role in supporting Alstom’s operations and highlighted the strong collaboration between our teams.

Alstom, a leader in train manufacturing, partners with Programmed not only for facility management services but also for maintaining specialised workshop equipment critical to their production process. Our team handles breakdown support, preventative maintenance, and minor works, all of which contribute to the smooth running of Alstom’s operations. We also address safety issues and enhance workplace infrastructure, directly boosting productivity.

“The Alstom contract is unique in that we enable their fast-paced operation and work alongside Alstom employees, helping them to be more productive. Every day is different, and their reliance on Programmed and our vendor base allows them to focus on manufacturing train sets,” said Sean McGrath.

Neil Delaney reflected on the visit, saying, “Sunny and I really enjoyed our visit to Alstom, a contract that was new to us. We are grateful to Sarel, Liandi, and Sean for their hospitality and for showcasing the valuable work they do. It was evident how well-regarded they are by the Alstom team, having become true partners in the facility’s operations. It was also fascinating to see the production line and understand how Programmed supports these specialised assets within this important WA Government initiative.”

For those working on the ground, like Sarel Naude and Liandi Fourie, the partnership with Alstom is more than just a job—it’s about being part of a bigger mission. Sarel noted, “No day at Alstom is the same, which makes every day unique. What brings me satisfaction is being part of Alstom’s vision and contributing to its success.”

Liandi added, “In my six months with Programmed at Alstom, I’ve learned a tremendous amount and built strong relationships. Every day is fast-paced and challenges me to improve. I’m proud to be part of Programmed, ensuring our client feels confident knowing their operations are in good hands.”

This visit emphasised the essential role that Programmed plays in supporting Alstom’s operations and showcased the dedication and pride our team brings to their work. It’s this commitment to excellence and collaboration that makes us all smile—because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the work we do; it’s about the impact we make.
