A fantastic example of teamwork and dedication was recently demonstrated at Sydney Airport.
During his day shift, Luke Huertas, one of our on-site plumbers, assisted a distressed passenger who had accidentally lost an expensive titanium ring in a bathroom handbasin. Fearing the sentimental item was gone for good, the passenger turned to our team for help.
Later that evening, fellow plumber Tim Collins continued the effort during his night shift. Going above and beyond, he carefully dismantled and inspected the plumbing to retrieve the ring. Thanks to his persistence and technical expertise, the valuable item was safely recovered and returned to its relieved owner via express mail.
While lost jewellery isn’t uncommon in busy environments like airports, what sets our team apart is their commitment to going the extra mile to reunite passengers with their valuables, ensuring they don’t have to stay lost.
This seamless collaboration across shifts highlights our team’s commitment to exceptional service, skilled trade expertise and genuine care for the communities we support.
👏 Well done to Luke and Tim for turning a stressful situation into a great outcome.
Since 2019, our team has retrieved at least 10 pieces of jewellery, including rings and bracelets – from bathroom handbasins across the airport. They have also recovered mobile phones and credit cards from unexpected places, including terminal roofs.

For the team on site, these aren’t just lost items, they’re someone’s wedding ring, a family heirloom, a phone filled with memories, or a credit card needed to get home. Taking the time to retrieve them reflects the pride our people take in their work and the care they show to every passenger they assist.
