Building webs of wisdom

Feb 23, 2018

Programmed’s Amelia Keen, who works on the SA Housing contract, recently took part in a local community project called ‘Web of Wisdom’.

Tenants from the Department of Health and Human Services and Grade 5 and 6 students from Merrivale Primary School got together with artist and leader Peta Jolley to share stories. Each person shares a story while holding a ball of yarn and once finished, passes it on to another person in the group. As they shared more stories, the pattern of yarn across the group slowly evolved into a ‘web’. At times, Peta prompted the group to help people to share, for example, “What is your name and what is the story behind your name?” and “What is a mistake you have made in your life?”

“The project enabled each participant to learn something and it was great to see multiple generations interacting and bonding over their stories of wisdom,” said Amelia Keen.

Programmed is happy to have been a part of this project and is looking forward to seeing the Webs of Wisdom on display at the Civic Green in early 2020.
