Meet Sundeep!
Sundeep has been with Programmed for over 21 years, starting at Skilled Engineering in 1999. His first few years of employment were spent as a casual Food and Beverage Attendant, working at large events including the NYE Y2K, Olympics, V8 Supercars Championship, Rugby World Cup and NRL Grand Finals – all the while completing his studies at university. His favourite highlights include watching the NYE Y2K fireworks on a Sydney Harbour cruise while getting paid, and witnessing Jonny Wilkinson kick the last-minute winning field goal in the England vs. Australia Rugby World Cup.
Throughout the years, Sundeep has worked in various roles across all divisions of Programmed, taking on positions such as Operations Supervisor, Team Leader – Operations, Recruitment Consultant and Account Manager. Now, with a plethora of skills in his portfolio, he leads the contract maintenance division in NSW as the Operations Manager.
When asked about his time at the company, Sundeep said the last 10 years have been the most challenging, but rewarding, in his career.
“In the last few years, I’ve been managing contracts from a 360º perspective. From start to finish, I was involved in planning, implementation, execution, ongoing work and major contract negotiations – some of which were worth up to $4M. My biggest achievement to date was winning an electrical works contract from a multinational food manufacturing company in 2014. Tasked with overseeing continuous improvement, I’ve delivered over $500K in savings as well as successfully renegotiated the contract in a highly competitive and low-cost focused environment.”
Having been with Programmed for well over 2 decades, Sundeep has worked in a variety of industries and with a range of customers. He expressed that due the company’s diversification, he’s been given a multitude of opportunities that would be otherwise difficult to come by elsewhere.
“I’ve received exposure to a lot of fields that are completely different to my degree and background in computer engineering. Programmed has allowed me to develop skills in disciplines such as industrial relations, human resources, business management, process re-engineering, project management, and even health and safety. For any new or potential candidates, there’s a lot you can do with the company – you just need the right attitude and approach, and a little thought and patience goes a long way.”
Looking back on his journey from day 1, Sundeep has met and worked with many people who’ve helped him reach where he is today.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the fantastic people (my customers, employees and collegemates) who’ve been part of my journey, stood behind me, with me, and carried me in this journey. Achieving a goal is important, but what’s more important is the distance that you have to travel with it ups and down and fears and failures, and this would have not been possible without all these people.”
Congratulations on your milestone at Programmed, Sundeep! We look forward to seeing what else you’ll accomplish in the future.
