One in a 100,000
Meet Michael Tan, a recruitment consultant with Programmed Professionals. In his work recruiting white collar business support professionals, Tan is particularly interested in strengthening internal relationships and streamlining the recruitment cycle. However, recruitment wasn’t his first calling.
In 2007, Tan joined the Australian Army as a Gunner in the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery. Over several years he was proud to put his training into practice and deploy to the Middle East on active duty.
Today, more than 100,000 young Australians are employed by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), where 15 per cent of the full-time force are women
In 2012, Tan spent 10 months in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, where he supervised the co-ordination of indirect fire support. He describes that time as a truly challenging stage in his life and says that he will always be proud of his military service. Tan is also still a member of the Army Reserves.
