Driving Sustainability Forward with Hydrogen Power

Nov 12, 2025

Programmed is proud to take a bold step toward a cleaner, greener future with the introduction of the Toyota Mirai, a state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). This initiative reflects our commitment to reducing emissions, embracing innovation, and supporting sustainable communities.

The Toyota Mirai runs on hydrogen, producing zero CO tailpipe emissions and emitting only water vapour. With 134kW of power, 300Nm of torque, and a range of up to 650km, it combines performance with sustainability. Refuelling takes just five minutes, making it a practical and efficient solution for the future of mobility.

This vehicle is part of a 12-month trial by our Procurement team, who will rotate the Mirai through Melbourne and Geelong to gather driver feedback and evaluate its potential in our fleet. Hydrogen technology is gaining traction globally as a genuine sustainable fuel option, and we’re excited to explore its role in reducing our carbon footprint.

Recently, the Mirai was tested in stunning locations like the Yarra Ranges, showcasing how clean transport can coexist with natural beauty.

“Hydrogen represents a real, sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. With zero tailpipe emissions, it’s an exciting glimpse into the future of clean mobility.”

Steve Ellis, Fleet Project Manager at Programmed

At Programmed, sustainability is more than a goal, it’s a responsibility. By investing in hydrogen-powered vehicles, we’re driving innovation for a better tomorrow.

Together, we can make a difference.
