For eight years, Trade for a Day has brought our people, partners and community organisations together to support Housing ACT tenants through a day of practical help, connection and community spirit.
Held each quarter, Trade for a Day continues to bring teams and community partners together to support Housing ACT tenants
Trades got to work completing a range of jobs for tenants, including replacing light fittings, working on hot water systems and servicing air conditioners.
The Bunnings team also joined the day, working directly with tenants to choose plants and decide where they would like them planted. The result was not only refreshed garden spaces, but an opportunity for tenants to be involved in the improvements happening around their homes.
The day also connected tenants with valuable community services. Representatives from the Department of Health and Ageing attended to provide information about aged care packages and answer questions, while ACT Policing spoke with tenants about home safety and provided an opportunity for residents to seek advice and ask questions.

More than a day of maintenance
Trade for a Day has grown into much more than a maintenance initiative.
Each year, the program brings together tradespeople, suppliers, volunteers and community organisations to improve homes while creating opportunities for tenants to connect and access important services. From practical repairs and upgrades to conversations over a shared meal, the day is about supporting both homes and the people who live in them.
A wide range of maintenance tasks have been completed through the initiative, helping make homes safer and more comfortable for tenants. Just as importantly, Trade for a Day creates a welcoming environment where residents can ask questions, learn about available support and engage with the people and organisations supporting their community.
The community barbecue has also become a much-loved part of the event, bringing residents, trades and support organisations together and reinforcing the sense of connection at the heart of Trade for a Day.
This year was no exception, combining practical maintenance works, community partnerships and tenant engagement to make a positive difference for Housing ACT residents.

A shared effort
The success of Trade for a Day comes down to the people who get involved - from our teams and trades to partners, community organisations and everyone working behind the scenes to bring the day together.
This year was another great example of that collective effort, with people contributing their time, skills and support to create a positive experience for Housing ACT tenants and help improve their homes and shared spaces.
As Trade for a Day marks its eighth year, this initiative continues to show the difference that can be made through practical support, strong partnerships and genuine community connection.
We look forward to continuing the tradition and supporting stronger, safer and more connected communities in the years ahead.
