We’re proud to announce that the Ngā Iti Kahurangi programme, delivered in partnership between Programmed Facility Management and the New Zealand Ministry of Education, has been named a finalist for Team of the Year in the 2025 Wellington Property People Awards, hosted by Property Council New Zealand!
This recognition celebrates the people behind the programme – the project managers, suppliers, auditors, installers, and coordinators, whose dedication and collaboration have transformed learning environments across Aotearoa.
A Programme with Purpose
Ngā Iti Kahurangi, meaning “small and highly-valued treasures”, is a major initiative aimed at uplifting small and remote schools with:
- An isolation factor of 2.0 or higher
- An enrolment of 152 or fewer students
With over 763 schools included, the programme is making a lasting impact on communities that need it most.
Programmed’s Role in Delivery
Since 2012, Programmed has proudly partnered with the Ministry of Education to deliver facilities management across New Zealand schools. Through the Ngā Iti Kahurangi programme, Programmed has:
- Delivered upgrades to over 500 schools in the Upper North Island
- Installed LED lighting, acoustic panels, thermal insulation, RCDs, and carpet tiles
- Managed asbestos remediation and health & safety compliance
- Led innovation through drone imagery, 3D scanning, and acoustic/lux testing
- Coordinated logistics and supplier relationships with partners like Savills and Mainfreight
These efforts directly support the Ministry’s Te Rautaki Rawa Kura – Property Strategy 2030, ensuring quality learning environments for all.
A Team Worth Celebrating
This award is a tribute to the people who make Ngā Iti Kahurangi possible. We often talk about the impact on tamariki, but today we celebrate the passionate professionals who bring this programme to life.
