Programmed Property Services Open Space Team Gives Back at Foodbank

Jun 22, 2025

Our Open Space team traded their landscaping tools for trolleys, volunteering at Foodbank Victoria to support families in need—an initiative that reflects our commitment to building communities through visible, meaningful engagement.

Programmed Property Services Open Space team gives back at Foodbank VIC

At Programmed, our purpose is simple yet powerful: to build outstanding people, strong customers, and great communities. Sometimes, the most meaningful way to build community is by stepping outside our usual roles and lending a hand where it’s needed most.

At one of their leadership conferences, the Programmed Property Services Open Space team chose to do just that. Instead of gathering over a meal or team-building activity, they spent the day packing boxes of fresh pears and apples for families facing food insecurity. It was a fast-paced, hands-on experience that reinforced the values that underpin our work: care, collaboration, and community impact.

Led by Tony Murphy, Head of Open Space, and Troy Maple, State Manager for VIC/TAS, the team brought their usual energy and camaraderie to the warehouse floor. Whether racing to set up boxes or joking about KPIs turning into packing quotas, the spirit of teamwork was unmistakable.

But beyond the fun, their efforts made a real difference—helping ensure that nutritious food reached those who need it most.

“Customer engagement is about being present both in the community as well as on job sites,” said Tony, adding that both encompassed “showing up with purpose, building trust through action, and demonstrating that we’re here for all of us, just in different ways.”

Service within the community in this manner shows how every interaction, whether with on a Programmed Open Space customer site or engaging through a community partner, is an opportunity to build something lasting.

It was an intentional choice to turn a strategy conference into a moment of impact. “Because when we engage with heart, we don’t just maintain spaces—we help communities thrive,” Tony said.
