Programmed is proud to once again support Hume in Bloom, Hume Community Housing’s annual gardening competition designed to inspire creativity, sustainability and community pride among more than 9,000 customers across NSW. Now in its fourth year, the competition continues to grow in popularity, highlighting the mental health, wellbeing and social benefits that gardening brings to individuals and neighbourhoods.
As an organisation with a strong social and environmental conscience, Programmed recognises the importance of initiatives that promote sustainable living, inclusion and healthier communities. Sponsoring Hume in Bloom allows us to align with these values while meaningfully engaging with customers and corporate partners across New South Wales.
This year, Programmed proudly sponsored the new Best Balcony Garden category – created for customers living in unit complexes who bring colour and life to compact outdoor spaces. We were delighted to recognise participants who transformed small areas into vibrant, flourishing gardens.
A total of 24 winners were selected across Sydney Metro and the Hunter region. A special congratulations to Catrina D, winner of the Best Regional Balcony Garden category sponsored by Programmed, whose creativity and gardening skills truly stood out.

Some Maitland winners have also been invited to a special end-of-year celebration at Maitland Park, where Programmed team members will join to congratulate them in person and capture moments from the event.
Since the competition began, Hume in Bloom has attracted 187 entries, recognised 54 individual winners, celebrated 12 community gardens, and distributed over $18,000 in prizes. This year also saw the introduction of the Best Compact Garden category and multilingual promotional materials to better reach Sydney’s multicultural communities.
Programmed is proud to continue supporting this meaningful initiative and celebrates the creativity, resilience and community spirit of all participants.
