Programmed to Support Sustainable Housing Solutions for Aboriginal Communities

Mar 5, 2026

Programmed is partnering with the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) to deliver sustainable housing solutions and create long-term employment opportunities for Aboriginal communities in NSW.

Programmed is set to support the delivery of a transformative initiative to improve housing quality and create long-term employment opportunities for Aboriginal communities in the Murdi Paaki region of New South Wales.

About Programmed and the initiative

Programmed brings over 20 years of experience in maintaining and upgrading social and community housing, having delivered meaningful outcomes for housing providers such as Homes NSW, Hume Housing, and Housing ACT. With a proven track record of managing more than 75,000 homes across nine government and community housing authorities, Programmed understands the importance of enhancing quality of life for tenants.

The NSW Aboriginal Housing Office’s (AHO) Murdi Paaki Region Aboriginal Housing Program (MPRAHP) is about more than housing; it’s about creating sustainable futures for communities.

Programmed will work closely with the AHO, the NSW Aboriginal Land Council, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and Aboriginal Community Housing Providers to uplift local economies, embed cultural safety, and deliver positive whole-of-life outcomes. This project reflects a shared commitment to community empowerment and sustainable outcomes.

Graeme Hurn, CEO of Programmed, shared:

“We’re proud to support the AHO in its mission to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality housing for Aboriginal communities. This program is a significant opportunity to combine service excellence with meaningful social impact.”

Paul Amato, Head of Facility Management for NSW, ACT, SA, National Support and National Contracts, added:

“Our focus is on delivering efficient, culturally sensitive solutions while creating pathways for long-term employment and skills development. Together with the AHO, we’re building stronger communities and a sustainable future.”

Strengthening Homes and Communities

Murdi Paaki Region Aboriginal Housing Program (MPRAHP) is focused on refurbishing and maintaining Aboriginal housing, with Programmed proud to support this by delivering maintenance across Central and West New South Wales.

Works include upgrades to bathrooms and kitchens, internal painting, flooring replacement, electrical and plumbing improvements, external enhancements, and accessibility modifications.

Beyond housing upgrades, Programmed will look to drive skills development through support of the AHO’s structured Aboriginal Workforce Program, hiring apprentices and building local capability to support long-term economic growth.

The contract mobilisation is well underway with official commencement date in early April. This partnership marks an important step toward improving housing standards and creating lasting opportunities for Aboriginal communities in the Murdi Paaki Region.
