Programmed trainees awarded best of the best in NT and QLD

Sep 26, 2018

Drumroll please…

Several Programmed trainees have been recognised for their outstanding achievements as part of various state training awards in recent months.

Northern Territory Trainee Award Winners

Kimberley Brewster has been awarded Trainee of the Year! Becoming a mother didn’t stop Kimberly’s drive from completing a Certificate III in Business Administration with her host employer ConocoPhillips and is now rising through the ranks currently completing a Certificate IV. She owes it all to her determination for a brighter future for her and her family.

“My whole life has changed since starting my traineeship. From my expectations to the way I communicate. In the past 12 months, I have matured with the traineeship, gradually taking on additional responsibilities as my skills and knowledge developed”. Kimberley Brewster

Sonny Malmerin-Fejo was awarded Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Student of the year!

When Sonny commenced a Certificate III in Warehouse Operations with ConocoPhillips, he threw himself in head first with his sunny nature and attitude! (Pun intended).

His eagerness to learn and develop his skill set has allowed him to rotate through various roles at ConocoPhillips making him an integral employee and team member.

Sonny has a clear message for others when pursuing training…“Never doubt your ability to learn new things” he said.

Queensland Trainee of the Year

Kathleen Jones, Installer Repairer with Telstra in North Queensland was the winner of the Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year award as part of the Queensland State training awards program. Having completed an apprenticeship in the automotive industry, Kathleen knew she had what it takes to undertake further VET qualifications. She was looking for a flexible career path, one that would allow her to expand her skills and experience. When an opportunity to work for Telstra came along, supported by a Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology with Programmed, Kathleen recognised it as a perfect chance to make that change.

On winning the award Kathleen said “I was extremely honoured and proud to represent Programmed and Telstra. Tiana and Brad have been absolutely amazing and made my traineeship so much easier to handle. I really appreciate their encouragement throughout. I’m looking forward to doing it all over again at Nationals!” she said.

Kimberley, Sonny and Kathleen will all represent Programmed and their host employers at the national awards in Sydney in November and we can’t wait to cheer them on.

Programmed is both a Group Training Organisation (GTO) and Registered Training Organisation (RTO 110043) assisting customers of all sizes in upskilling their workforce through technical and vocational skills training, including short course, certificates, traineeships and apprenticeships.
