Last week, Programmed’s Melbourne Airport team gathered together for a very big morning tea for a very important cause.
At the heart of the ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ event was an incredibly delicious spread comprised of donations from Melbourne Airport team members, as well as generous donations from vendors AAA Glass, United Lifts, Asset Locating Services, and AC Building Group.

“Cancer is a topic close to many people’s hearts,” said Facility Coordinator Jaimee Lyberis, who spearheaded the event.
“So, I thought let’s get around the cause, have a morning tea, collaborate with our service providers, and act as one to both raise some money, and hope we can prevent it in some way by talking about it”.
As well as a great social occasion and opportunity to raise funds for the Cancer Council, it was also an opportunity to reflect on the impact cancer has had on many of our lives, including Programmed’s own Michael ‘Mick’ Eliades.

Mick bravely shared his personal story about a recent cancer scare, emphasising the importance of getting checked and having conversations with health professionals around the topic. As a relatable figure amongst the team, he saw his opportunity to remind the team that cancer can happen to anyone, to stay aware, and to listen to your body.
“If we can prevent this from happening by speaking about it, it’ll be a great accomplishment,” said Mick.
At the conclusion of the event, the team had raised an outstanding $3,758 for the Cancer Council’s vital work in supporting those affected by cancer.

At Programmed, we recognise the deep connection our people have to our communities, as well as our ongoing responsibility to make a positive impact. This event is just one example of our teams going above and beyond to make a difference beyond our day-to-day activities for the communities we work alongside.
