Keysborough College is a Victorian Government school providing coeducational learning across its two campuses, Acacia in Keysborough and Banksia in Springvale South.

Project Description

The College previously underwent extensive refurbishment and building works as part of a Government upgrade program. Over the years, dirt, grime and corrosion had built up, leading to an overall deterioration in appearance.

Project Solution

The College’s principal, Mr John Baston, had first-hand experience of Programmed’s ability to deliver a high quality of work from his time at a previous school. This gave him confidence that Programmed would successfully return Keysborough College to its former glory. In particular, he trusted Programmed’s ability to provide solutions tailored to address the condition and age of individual buildings. This included the right surface preparation, paint type and application.

He also knew Programmed could complete works within a short time frame, work safely at heights and around difficult to access areas.

Across Keysborough’s two campuses, there has been extensive use of Colorbond steel. Programmed washed all these pre-finished areas to remove the years of accumulated dirt and grime. Elevated work platforms and a biodegradable cleaning agent were utilised for a ‘zero harm’ outcome to both people and the environment.

Where external areas had cracked, peeling paint, they were restored, colour matched and repainted. The College was then given a colour reference guide to make future maintenance easier.

The combination of the extensive clean and repaint works revitalised Keysborough College. Importantly for the school, Programmed ensured the school could not only afford to achieve a complete refresh upfront, but to also retain this high level of presentation through on-going maintenance. Programmed did this by enabling the school to amortise costs for the initial repaint across the agreed maintenance period.

Project Outcome

Mr Baston was very happy with the results:

“It was a great outcome for the College. Staff and students enjoyed a fully refreshed environment while the College benefited from a solution that ticked all the boxes for quality, affordability and value for money.

Programmed offered us a simple answer: streamlined implementation, a single point of contact and a tailored painting maintenance package. The works were completed in the January school holidays without any disruption to the start of the school year, ready for the first day of Term One.”
