Work and Smile: People of Programmed – Meet Victoria Sumido

Dec 15, 2025

Out in the heart of WA’s mining regions, we’ve been connecting with the people who bring Work and Smile to life every day. Today, we’re proud to introduce Victoria, one of the team members featured in our latest series. 🧹 ✨

Originally from the Philippines, Victoria made Australia her home several years ago and has embraced vast beauty of the WA outback ever since. The diversity of Victoria’s team is something she particularly values about her role, with team members from all over the world pulling together to create something really special.

Today, she supervises cleaning teams across remote mining villages, ensuring every room is clean, comfortable and ready for the many migrant FIFO workers who rely on these spaces as their home-away-from-home.

Each morning begins with a team Pre-Start stretch, setting the tone for a day of nimble, quiet work behind the scenes, refreshing rooms, replacing amenities and making sure every guest feels looked after.

What grounds Victoria most in her work is the landscape around her. The red earth, open skies and wildlife of regional WA are a world away from where she grew up, but they’ve become part of her story. She says the red dust is now in her heart.
