Driving greater inclusion for people with disability

Dec 2, 2019

At Programmed Care, we are proud to acknowledge the stories of our clients living with disability, as they work towards their own unique goals and fulfil their potential.

Tuesday 3 December marks the United Nations’ International Day of People with Disability, a day to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people living with disability, everywhere.

Since its inception in 1992, the International Day of People with Disability has served to drive better identification of environmental and social barriers to inclusion, urging us all to work together to overcome these obstacles across our communities. By removing barriers and driving greater inclusion of people with lived experience of disability, we ensure all people have the opportunity to fulfil their potential as equal citizens around the world.

At Programmed Care, we are proud to acknowledge the stories of our clients living with disability, as they work towards their own unique goals and fulfil their potential. As expressed by Kurt Fearnley, International Day of People with a Disability patron for 2019 and Paralympian:

‘People with a disability are entitled to the same respect, independence and choice as others.

We need to talk honestly about the barriers in society that prevent this and work together to break them down.’

The Programmed Care team works together with our clients to support them live their lives fully and on their terms. So whether, like Kurt, you want to train as an athlete and climb the Kokoda Track – or just need some domestic help or transport assistance, Programmed Care is here to help.
