Project Description
Cutting edge technology is fundamental in ensuring Deakin University continues to be at the forefront as a provider of personalised and unique learning experiences for students. Reflecting its stance as an innovator, particularly in the digital space, Deakin’s vibrant multi-campus environments are enhanced via industry-leading digital engagement, allowing the students to encounter study, life and work through an inter-connected and evolving world.
A deep understanding of the University’s technological needs resulted in Programmed’s engagement for various audio visual projects across the university’s campuses. Despite tight deadlines and work during University hours, Programmed completed the works quickly while still ensuring the University maintained daily operations and kept up a high standard of presentation. In order to reduce possible disruption to students and staff, Programmed arranged work around lecture schedules and ensured equipment installations were fully functional for immediate use.
Project Solution
Building BC – Deakin University Burwood Campus
The contemporary and stylish Building BC is occupied by the Faculty of Health plus a number of administrative support areas. These needed a large number of audio visual equipment and associated components to be installed. A quality install was necessary as Building BC is a Deakin landmark and responsible for the signature entrance effect upon entry to Deakin’s Burwood Campus in Melbourne, VIC.
As a result, Programmed help to provide the University with displays screens tailored to the unique use of each space with the flexibility to also support multi-function adaptability for when the spaces were called on for office-based research, retail, meeting, executive and administrative uses, in addition to being an information/visitor centre and art display.
Deakin University REACH
Deakin’s Regional Community Health Hub (REACH) responds to the critical health workforce’s shortage outside metropolitan areas, particularly for professional optometrists and exercise scientists.
REACH uses state-of-the-art teaching technology to connect health students and practitioners in rural and regional Victoria. Programmed were involved in installations able to support teaching that requires multiple sites to be connected by videoconference, as well as links to other health services. Large, interactive displays along with multiple plugs, enable ease of connecting and content sharing among students and practitioners. Such installations help REACH act as a hub for professional development for health practitioners and further strengthens Deakin’s Faculty of Health’s partnerships with the industry.
Project Outcome
Deakin’s forward thinking outlook, coupled with Programmed’s expertise in technology solutions, help to create truly enriching experiences, offering students the opportunity to be more than just graduates but to also set themselves up for life in a world full of constant technological advancements.
