Hopkins Correctional Centre

Ararat, Victoria

Programmed provides maintenance and soft services across the Hopkins Correctional Centre.

We implemented an electrolysed water system to remove the need for chemicals in the prison kitchen.

Electrolysed water is created by applying an electrical charge to a mixture of ordinary tap water and salt. The process creates two highly effective and safe solutions on opposing ends of the PH scale, providing a safe, non-toxic sanitisation solution.

The system eliminated 90% of previously used chemicals, delivering an estimated savings in chemical purchases alongside the environmental benefits. The project was so successful that a second system has been installed and meets the Therapeutic Goods Association’s labelling standards.
