"Programmed Electrical Technologies delivered a major audiovisual and collaboration systems upgrade for the Queensland Emergency Operations Centre (QEOC) — Queensland's principal state-level disaster coordination facility. Legacy, standalone systems were replaced with a secure, software-defined 10Gb Audio over IP (AVoIP) platform, delivered with zero disruption to this live, 24/7 mission-critical environment. The project won the Inavate APAC Awards 2026 – Mission Critical Spaces."

Project Scope 

The QEOC coordinates whole-of-government responses to natural disasters, major incidents, and complex emergencies. Its existing technology environment relied on multiple standalone systems that limited information sharing and operational efficiency across the precinct — and any upgrade had to be delivered within a live 24/7 facility, where reliability, security, and continuity of service were non-negotiable.

Working closely with the Queensland Fire Department, QEOC stakeholders, and technology partners Datapath, Midwich, and Sharp, the project team designed and delivered an integrated solution tailored to the operational demands of a state-level emergency coordination facility. This included:

  • Videowalls
  • Operator workstations
  • Collaboration spaces
  • Centralised control systems

These elements were combined into a unified environment enabling secure access to, management of, and sharing of critical information across the precinct. Delivery involved extensive stakeholder consultation, proof-of-concept testing, technical validation, and staged implementation to maintain uninterrupted operations, along with ongoing training, handover, and lifecycle support.

Project Outcome 

The upgrade delivered a modern, integrated operational environment that strengthens the Queensland Fire Department’s emergency management capability. By replacing legacy, standalone systems with a unified platform, the solution enables real-time information sharing, streamlined collaboration, and more effective coordination across operational and support spaces — enhancing situational awareness and decision-making during major incidents and disaster response. Its scalable, software-defined architecture also provides a resilient foundation for future technology expansion.
