Project Background 

Wonguim Wilam Playspace, located in the heart of Warrandyte, Victoria, is a popular public open space frequented by families and community groups.

Manningham City Council engaged the landscaping and playground experts within Programmed’s Open Space team to deliver a comprehensive upgrade of the playspace and surrounding park infrastructure, ensuring the area remained safe, accessible, and inviting for all users. 

Scope and Solution

Over a six-month period, Programmed undertook a full-scale renewal of the playspace, combining expert landscaping with precision playground installation. The scope included: 

  • Demolition of existing infrastructure and play equipment 
  • Installation of new drainage systems and surfacing (concrete, gravel, and rubber) 
  • Construction of new fencing and pedestrian pathways 
  • Installation of modern play structures and large-scale equipment 
  • Landscaping with native flora to blend into the natural environment 
  • Addition of public amenities including BBQ areas, drinking fountains, and turf zones 

Programmed Property Services worked closely with trusted playground subcontractors to ensure all equipment met stringent safety standards. The Melbourne team also implemented safe pedestrian management strategies, including temporary fencing and signage, to minimise disruption and ensure public safety throughout the works.

The upgraded playspace now offers a vibrant, multi-functional recreational area that supports active play, social interaction, and outdoor relaxation. The integration of native landscaping enhances the environmental value of the site, while the new infrastructure improves accessibility and usability for families and visitors.
