Big changes are rolling out across Perth’s streets! The final diesel Transperth bus has officially left the production line in Malaga, marking a major milestone in the Cook Labor Government’s bold vision for a cleaner, greener Western Australia.
As part of its election commitment, Transperth is set to fully transition to a 100% electric bus fleet over the next 20 years. From now on, 100 electric buses will be built locally in WA each year, driving local jobs and innovation while helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Each electric bus boasts an impressive range of up to 300 kilometres on a single charge and is expected to save approximately 40 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. That’s a massive win for our air quality!
With the first depot upgrades already underway, including at Karrinyup, the groundwork is being laid now for a fully electric fleet by 2045.
