Work and Smile: People of Programmed – Meet Rob McAlpine

Dec 3, 2025

As we continue to celebrate and showcase the people that make Programmed fulfilling, today we’re shining a light on Rob – one of the featured team members in our series across Western Australia. Rob’s story was captured in Geraldton, WA, where he shares the pride he takes in supporting Social Housing tenants through his work as an electrician. 🎥✨

Rob is known for his attention to detail and his commitment to delivering work that is clean, efficient, and reliable. As an electrician supporting Social Housing units, he takes genuine pride in completing tasks quickly and to a high standard, ensuring tenants feel safe, comfortable and fully able to enjoy their homes.

In Rob’s own words:
“I really enjoyed my experience. It got me out of my comfort zone as I have never taken part in anything like it before. Being able to show my family and friends that I’m on a video is pretty cool. I felt well supported during filming and am glad I was given a few takes to calm my nerves and relax a bit. Also enjoyed a few laughs.
I enjoyed sharing my story because I could be honest and tell what it is like working with my colleagues at the Geraldton branch as it is very important to me to work with a supportive friendly crew.”

Beyond the quality of his work, Rob’s approach is grounded in empathy. He understands the real impact that timely repairs and upgrades can have on families, and he carries that sense of responsibility into every project he takes on.

Outside of work, Rob is a dedicated family man. His role provides him with the work/life balance he values most, allowing him to spend evenings and weekends with his young family – something he doesn’t take for granted.

Rob is also highly regarded by his team in Geraldton. He appreciates the camaraderie they’ve built together and the positive, supportive environment that makes coming to work each day enjoyable.

His story reflects the heart of Work and Smile – taking pride in meaningful work, supporting local communities, and finding balance in the moments that matter most.
