Programmed brings its vendor partners together to reaffirm our commitment to safety

Jul 30, 2024

Programmed hosted a town hall for 80 of our vendor partners at the Sandbelt Hotel in Melbourne's Southeast to share our insights on working safely from heights.

At Programmed Facility Management, safety is at the forefront of everything we do. We live by the philosophy that all injuries are preventable. While this commitment to safety is ingrained in our business and operations, it’s still important to remind our teams about our zero-harm commitment.

That’s why in July 2024, Programmed hosted a town hall for 80 of our vendor partners at the Sandbelt Hotel in Melbourne’s Southeast to share our insights on working safely from heights. In this town hall, we concentrated on effective practices for working at heights and introduced innovative tools that team members can utilise to enhance worker safety.

Our National Health and Safety Manager, Matt Waterman, led the discussion, sharing his experience and insights from working with customers and subcontractors across Programmed. Matt and the team covered several key points related to work-at-height safety.

The team explored insights from recent work-at-height events, including what can go wrong and the crucial distinction between being trained and being competent. For instance, holding a work-at-height ticket does not necessarily mean competence for high-risk tasks.

Matt shares, “Our vendor partners are not just associates; they are integral members of our team. Sessions like these are invaluable, nurturing stronger relationships and fostering collaboration. Together, we share a singular mission: delivering unparalleled service to our customers and communities.”

Following Matt, Anthony Duff from Skylotec, an expert partner of ours, discussed his experiences working at heights, shared best practices, and demonstrated innovative safety equipment for keeping workers safe. Expert providers like Skylotec ensure we have access to top-quality advice and gear.

Lastly, we also had Mick White from Greenlight Training, who offers scenario-based training tailored to our needs, which exceeds the standard industry requirements. By referring Mick to the group, we aim to enhance their skills and safety practices further.

Our Commitment to Safety

Our people work hard to deliver Programmed’s purpose and commit to our values. Safety is embedded in our culture and we encourage our people to take an active role in visibly demonstrating safety leadership, regardless of their organisational position and location.

We’re supported by leading health, safety and environment systems which provide us with real-time data and analytics. These in turn help us become a safer, more reliable service provider.
