With stylish original Are-Deco features and a heritage turquoise overlay, the Mandalay’s prominence proved it a rewarding challenge to repair paint. While the apartment boasted stunning views, the building characteristic turquoise and brown were revealing the weathering effects of ocean proximity with signs of deterioration and cracks appearing in the external paintwork.
To enhance and brighten the features and bring a high standard of presentation to match The Mandalay to its scenery, Programmed was enlisted to refresh and refurbish the exterior apartment complex.
Project Solution
Programmed delivered a painting solution tailored to restore The Mandalay to its former glory.
Consulting with Programmed’s dedicated paint representative was crucial to select a colour scheme to closely match the unusual colours that gave the building its charm. Directly facing the corrosive foreshore, the colours also needed to stand the test of time. From the turquoise blues and the subtle browns against the brickwork Programmed selected the colours thoughtfully to ensure seamless cohesion between the heritage front façade and contemporary rear apartment building.
The Owner’s Corporation sought Programmed out specifically to deliver a complete turnkey solution incorporating everything from project management, project scope, consultation and delivery.
Outcome
The fresh, new repair paint has not only impressed the Owner’s Corporation and residents, it has rejuvenated The Mandalay as one of St Kilda’s most distinctive Deco jewels.
