R U OK? Day 2025

Sep 18, 2025

The programmed team at WA came together to mark R U OK? Day, a reminder of the power of checking in with the people around us and starting meaningful conversations but also looking in the mirror and asking yourself, R U OK?

We were fortunate to hear from some incredible speakers who brought energy, insight and heart to the day:

  • Preetie Boler taught us how to ask the right questions and better support the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
  • Goran Utjesinovic from The Big Dig and Oscar Wharton from Zero2Hero shared their stories and highlighted how these programs educate and empower young people to support their own mental health, build resilience, and help prevent suicide in the community.

The room was filled with open conversations, nods of understanding, and a genuine sense of connection across the team. It was a moment to pause, listen, and remember that sometimes the simplest question “Are you OK?” can make all the difference.

A special thank you to Clark Larcombe, Amanda Pickering, and Waffe El Jazzar for surprising us with beautiful cupcakes – the perfect finishing touch to such a thoughtful and uplifting event – and to Brooke for helping bring the day together. Michael Watts and Maddy Chapman were also delighted to share some of these delicious cupcakes with RUAH, an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering vulnerable people.

R U OK? Day may be just one date on the calendar, but it’s a message to carry forward every day. Never underestimate the impact of a genuine conversation. 💬✨
