Our Customer

Emmanuel College in Victoria provides Catholic education in the Marianist tradition and aims to help young men and women achieve their personal best through a learning environment that is supportive and respectful. The College caters to Years 7-12 and comprises of the co-educational Notre Dame Campus in Point Cook and the all-boys St Paul’s Campus in Altona North.

Project Description

Emmanuel College boasts top quality expansive grounds that play host to multiple sporting competitions in addition to being home to the College’s very own Soccer Academy. Their determination to provide a richer educational experience led them to engage Programmed, and a relationship with us that has since blossomed.

Mario Puopolo, Business Manager at Emmanuel College says: “Initially, we contracted Programmed to provide grounds and landscaping, as well as an on-site Facility Manager who could help our in-house maintenance staff deliver the best environment for our students, staff and community.”

This arrangement, he says, achieved outstanding success as the College’s grounds and facilities across its two campuses very quickly improved in quality and appearance. With the grounds never looking better, the College began to see benefits in other areas.

“I believe this has also had a significant impact on the increase in our enrolment numbers as the community began to embrace the quality of not only the education provided but the College’s grounds and facilities as well,” says Mr Puopolo.

Seeing how the grounds arrangement was yielding positive results, the College then looked to Programmed to take care of their painting needs.

Project Solution

Emmanuel College had been steadily renovating and extending its campus buildings. As a result, new builds needed protecting while older ones required maintaining. Cohesiveness in terms of presentation across buildings and campuses was also imperative.

Emmanuel College decided upon a long-term maintenance programme as it allowed them to achieve their desired works upfront, keep their assets at a continuously high level of presentation, as well as afforded them the opportunity to amortise costs over the length of the programme. To align the school’s requirements with their budget, Programmed developed a schedule of work based on each building’s condition and needs after measuring and assessing them individually.

To minimise disruption to the College, works were scheduled throughout the Christmas break. Even then, the School was seldom devoid of activity. Teachers continued to be on site and other trades the College had engaged were also busy carrying out concurrent works. Programmed maintained communication with the School and other onsite trades so that we could complete our work on time and safely manoeuvre our teams around these comings and goings. The result was an incident-free makeover for Emmanuel College’s McCoy Hall and six other buildings, all of which were given a complete internal and external refresh with some buildings even undergoing an entire colour change.

Our expert team of painters, inventory of safety and height access equipment, and ‘can do’ attitude ensured all works were completed to an extremely professional and high standard, and before the start of term; an outcome that was very much welcomed by Mr Puopolo.

Project Outcome

Mr Puopolo is deeply impressed by what the College has achieved through Programmed.

“Programmed Property Services has partnered with Emmanuel College for just over three years now and the benefits have well out-weighed the costs in spades.

I was amazed at the speed in which a team of painters was able to complete a whole campus repaint from scratch over the summer holiday break. Again, staff, students and the College community have witnessed the school’s facilities going to another level.

Programmed has allowed the College to consolidate many of our existing needs, providing us with a one-stop shop, including facility management, grounds maintenance, painting services and also printing and design. This has aided greatly in allowing us more time and energy to ensure our core business, education is the number one focus going forward.

The level of service provided to the College by Programmed is unparalleled within the educational environment context. The attention to detail, attitude and workmanship of their people have to be seen to be believed. It has been an absolute pleasure to partner up with Programmed and we look forward to Programmed’s value adding to our College and its community for many more years to come.”
