Project Description
The retail liquor market in Australia is extremely competitive. So Woolworths must always ensure their BWS stores offer customers the very best experience possible to grow market share. One area they identified with potential to improve was their cool rooms.
Usually situated at the rear of the store, these areas are often neglected despite being customer facing. Woolworths planned to rollout a new look for these rooms to not only reflect current trends, but also as a point of difference.
Project Solution
The ability to deliver fitout work nationally and in geographical dispersed locations was a top priority for Woolworths when
looking for a supplier. They also needed a company capable of carrying out this work outside store opening times, as well as
finishing one site each night in order to deliver the national rollout within the strict deadline given. Woolworths knew Programmed Property Services had the ability to fulfil all of these requirements.
Plus, from experience of working with Programmed previously on a number of other successful national rollouts, they were
confident we could deliver this project consistently to a high standard and within budget. The fitout project involved the initial design of the brickwork pattern, as well as sourcing of appropriate materials for both flooring and digital prints of the store room. Each cool room received new flooring, digital print installation on cool room walls, trade floor ceiling painting and touch-up to walls where required. We also provided a project manager to oversee every installation as each fitout required various trades completing different elements of the fitout, as well as ensuring works were finished well before the store had to open again in the morning.
Project Outcome
After installing over 4,000 square metres of flooring, 3,500 square metres of digital prints and repainting the ceilings of dozens of trade floors using over 2,500 litres of paint, BWS’ cool rooms across their store network now boast a modern interior – one you wouldn’t traditionally associate with a cool room and one that easily matches the high presentation of the rest of the store.
