A Milestone: Programmed and Melbourne Water celebrate 1 year of partnership

Aug 1, 2023

Programmed and Melbourne Water recently celebrated their first anniversary. It has been an incredible journey for both organisations, and our partnership is growing in strength.

Programmed Facility Management maintains Melbourne’s water supply catchments, 1,300 kilometres of distribution pipes, and recycling and treatment plants that provide high-quality drinking water to Melbourne residents. We provide maintenance and minor capital works across Melbourne Water’s asset base, which includes water, sewage, waterways, drainage, and flood areas.

Throughout our partnership, we have built great relationships, developed innovations, and launched various initiatives. Despite many wet weather events in the first few months of our collaboration, resulting in numerous breakdowns, the Melbourne Water team persevered and ensured minimal impact on the community, and continuation of services.

In this video, hear from Melbourne Water and our team working on the partnership about their experience so far.

Craig Wills, Head of Works Delivery, Infrastructure Operations at Melbourne Water, shares, “At Melbourne Water, we talk a lot about this being the decade that matters, and that’s why we’ve partnered with Programmed.”

Graeme Hurn, CEO of Facility Management at Programmed, said at the start of the partnership that it was deeply satisfying to help provide Melbourne with a reliable water and wastewater supply. “Melbourne is one of the great cities in the world, and we are honoured to be strengthening our involvement with it by partnering with Melbourne Water to maintain the city’s vital water supply into the 2030s,” he said.

“We have achieved many great things with Melbourne Water in the past year, and we are looking forward to more years of projects focused on driving innovation and continuous improvement through the smart use of water technology and advanced data analytics. Additionally, we are committed to social and indigenous engagement and more training, apprenticeships, and indigenous employment opportunities through our Water Academy.”
